Looks like Bonnie and Clyde hit the dry lakes in their '34 Fordoor. Clyde ripped the fenders off to test getaway top speed, maybe? Righteous iron down there in the Lonestar state. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great Pics, Shaun. I really appreciate this show. It's truly a three ring circus of the highest order and it must be just exhausting to organize. Thanks.

By the way, that picture with Ed "the legend" Cannon is great. He's the best. I hope to be cool enough someday to be immortalized as an E.C. Monster tearing up the town in my roadster. Congrats on the score.

Killer pics Krapnut!!!!

That '34 sedan HAS to be one that my friend used to own... it was an original "low mileage" car that he sold last year... he had it for 30 years and never did anything with it.

Do you have any more pics of it?

I remember it had a dent in the back on one of the corners of the top... did anyone notice that?

Thanks again fr the update... I'm looking forward to someday going to the Roundup... until then, you guys rock for posting pics!

Sam.

p.s. Did 38Chevy454 (Terry) get off to a safe start with his new Triumph loaded up?

The Survivor Story...
According to the sheet on the window, the guy came back from WWII and bought the car for $75. He started learning all the hop up tricks that were popular in the day and built the car as you see it in the pic. As the story goes, one day in 1955 a brand new stock Chevrolet sedan lined up next to him at a stoplight and beat him in a race. The owner (out of shame or disappointment that his car was no longer "fast") parked the car in his barn, where it sat until his death in 1998. I think it now belongs to the guy to whom he left it in his will. According to the sign, they only performed minor mechanical maintenence, in order that it could be driven.
This was a treat to see. A very special car.

This car had an "Old Car Scent" like nothing you have ever smelled before.

Got a couple more of the 34 at the house I'll try to get posted tonight.
Jim Jacobs was driving it and acording to the Choppers guys he was weaving in and out out traffic gunning and running the whole way.
It was really cool to see Pete and Jake taring around Austin in their hot rods, Jim Jard said it was the first time they have gone to a show together in 14 years.

As far as I know Terry's on his way home with new bike in tow. Tell him to check in as soon as he arives safe.

Hope you can make it out next year Sam, we'd love to have ya.

That's an Awesome story on the "Survivor" roadster and I loved the 34 C-dan...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

What about the 32 "necked" roadster that was brought to the 2nd Roundup???

Anyone get the history on that one???

Soon the Roundup will be known as the "Survivor Show"...!

El Rust-O-Rod can help you out with that one, but the gist of it is:

A guy was doing some work at someone house, the owner said they knew someone with an old car, 1940's something. The guy checked it out, turned out to be that '32 Ford, got it for CHEAP. It had some cruddy blue paint on it, but he stripped it, and didn't change a single other thing (not even the hard as a rock tires!)
