This is not a dumb ass question http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif,,,,,,,,,the truck has two front springs ,,,,,sooooooo it does not use a superbell or a regular type axle with holes for a transverse spring perch! HRP

El Polacko is your man. He's an agent for a young fellow in AZ who's doing some of the finest dropped axle work ever. As I understand it, the fellow added F-1/F-100 axles to his line of Ford passenger car axles a few months ago.

Here are some examples of his work, 3, 2-1/2, and 2. Check out the uniformity of the webs, really handsome work. And they're accurate and symmetrical, with round perch-pin and kingpin holes -- no distortion.

Hope this helps.

I just picked up a decent 48 driver and was wondering the same thing (if dropped axles are avail) I was thinking about going to mono leafs on the front...right now it's way too stiff with multi-leaves and overloads...ugh!

Av8....what are you running on the front of your F1?

So far, my F-1 suspension is still stock all around -- and quite stiff. I have a full set of new reversed-eye springs, front and rear, and a nice old 3-inch Mor-Drop axle. I'll probably eliminate a short leaf or two from each spring pack to soften them a bit. I'm also thinking about changing the steering from side draglink to cross-steer to reduce bumpsteer when the front is dropped.

I plan on making the suspension changes in conjunction with the new motor and transmission install. Probably gonna take a couple of weeks to do it all, once the motor is done and run-in. I'll keep you and the HAMB posted as work progresses.

The picture's pretty close to the final look, except the rear has been PhotoShopped a bit too low. Bring it up 3-4 inches in back and that's it.

CENPEN (http://www.cenpen.com/home.htm)

I didn't see a dropped axle for F1s on their webpage, but they're doing 53-56 trucks & some Chevy trucks too. Not real sure about their product - never used them, don't know anyone who has - but might be worth an email to them...

Dunno if he's a HAMBer or not, but that's the CENPEN folks. Not sure if these fit the earlier trucks though - think the width is wrong. Anyone?
