Just another bump in the road...

Hey,
Been awhile. I got the thunderbird back on track, I got the exhaust manifold bolts out with some time... I had the exhaust completley re done and I have started to Primer it with rattle cans. Its actually coming together... i never thought this would actually happen.. So I took my drivers side manifold off on saterday and took it down to the local machine shop and asked to have it resurfaced, He takes it back and tells me 5 minutes later to come back. It turns out it has been resurfaced one to many times and the gap is so small that if they resuface it again it will crack from the heat. Now here is where my problem arises, Where to find a drivers side exhaust manifold for a 352 FE ..... I tried all the local parts stores and I coulden't get a line on anything...... Many of the people I talked to told me that you might as well buy headers.
Anyone know of a company that produces exhaust manifolds fior a 1960 T-bird? I tried searching online and all I came up with was custom headers.

No.

You would have to have them custom made. It's very tight in there. It will be very expensive but then again the manifolds are too. I'd definately look into having someone custom make headers for it. It might be $300 or more but the stock manifolds are very restrictive.

as I expected...... I already hav a place that make shortie headers for my year to avoid the steering box. They will run me about 400 bones but its easier then searching for Stock manifolds.

I have a guy local to Massachusetts that might have some.. even with shipping I think it would be cheaper than 3-400.

I had those on my T-bird...

They come out of a truck and only one side looks like that.

The require a significant amount of grinding to fit and I had to set the motor in a little higher to get them to fit over the steering box.

They do look cool on the motor when it's out of the car but you can't see the fins with the motor in place.

If that was my manifold I think I'd be brazing/building up the mating surface with some brass about .100" thick and then have that surfaced.
