Where do you run one of those in Switzerland? I know Bonneville France is too "hilly" for Land Speed Racing http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mike
Looking forward to seeing you on the salt someday.

Sure, I'll be starting this project by the end of summer probably (maybe before), but I have to finish my '53 chevy before, keep on looking at our website ! and buy our book, the pictures are really cool !

Hi
Yes I guessed that ! I already started to throw salt in the lake of Geneva, but it will need some million years... Anyway, I wanted to make a lakester for some time now and finally ran across this one. Of course the most expensive thing was to get it to Switzerland, but now it's here and it's so cool. I'll finish it and then I'll see if the cops will be able to keep up with me on the highway :-) ...or maybe (on the safer side) try to get a sponsor who will pay the trip to US-Bonneville... Keep on checking out our website ! (and buy our book while stock lasts !)
Anyway thanks for your interrest !

What did the drop tank come off of...???

That is going to be "one wild ride" when you're done!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

...if I fit in ? ...eh I'll let you know as soon as the engine is inside... but it will be very tight, for sure !
I wonder if I should go with or withour rear suspension, any idea anybody ? I know that Tom Beatty's one had rear suspension. What about Alex's from So-Cal ?

Do you have a dry lake in Switzerland to run it on?
Yes that was a serious question. The only vision I have (been fed by the media) of the country is the Alps but I figure there must be more to the geography than just up one side and down the other...

I think your shoulders are wider than the tank!
Having been a Marathon runner a decade and 85 pounds ago, may I suggest you quit (the obvious) pumping of heavy weights and switch to a regimen of running 40-50 Kilometers a week and working out with light weight, half what you are now, with higher reps.
That'll cut down on the bulk but retain the strength.
Then you won't have to hire a horse jockey to drive it!

I'm just talking out of my hat on the following since I havent done it, but I was just visioning a trailing arm suspension with V8 Ford motor mount biscuits top and bottom for a small amount of "suspension" the top one,and maybe the bottom too would be nested in a scrwe mount so ride height, travel and "spring" tension could be adjusted for the course. Simple and space saving.

Well, your geographics is quite correct, and we have about 3 or 4 thousand lakes in Switzerland, but none is dry ! Anyway, I wanted to make a lakester for quite some time now, and the question of where I'm gonna run it will be answered when the project is finished :-)
Your idea of using engine mounts for rear suspension is an interesting approach, thanks, haven't thought about that, and I surely don't need 12 inches of travel !
For what I think about hiring a horse jockey, eh, well : no ! I don't want to end up having my lakester fueled with grains or water !
