Distributor swap

I had an epiphony today, I was thinking that I could run a newer 62 Chevy 235 distributor in my 54 Chevy. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible, and what problems if any may occur. Or has anyone used this set up before and had success with it?

I believe all the 235 distributors are physically interchangeable, though there are a number of different part numbers, which might mean differing calibrations.

I've talked to a couple people who were even running later HEI type distributors in stobebolt 6s.
