Illinois Flat lander

New to the board...I am currently building a 1927 Track T roadster with a late 40's Lakes style. Been a Super Truck Race Car driver/owner but got tired of fixing it every week. I thought building Hot Rods would have been less Stress and Money...Guessed wrong on that one....:eek:

Attached is a photo of what it looks like. I have it torn down at the moment getting the chassis ready for paint. I just finished a Chin bar for the nose and a rear bumper. I hope to have color shot on the chassis this fall yet.

I'm going after a late 1940's - early 1950's Track T racer look....

You need to ask the Wisconsin Cheese heads that one. I've always heard it from my friends from Wisconsin...I think they call us that since they are all bound up eating all that Choke ASS Cheese!

Is your Dad still banging out sheetmetal or is he semi-retired....I just tlaked to Bergstrom last week at Highland about using the paint booth to shoot my car. He still is the same...

The original plan was to use my Concept Motor out of my race truck. It is a ZZ4 motor that has been balanced and blueprinted that puts out 450HP and 450 ft/lbs of torque. After weighing the car we decided it was a bit too much horsepower....The car only weighed 1600lbs.
Since then we purchased a 290 HP small block chevy to power it down the road. Once I get done monkeying around with it it should be closer to 320 HP. We are running a junkyard Saginaw 4-speed behind it with a Ford (in. with 3.50 gears.

Its been a struggle making it all fit into such a small frame work and body. Most guys I've talked to that have built this style of car always used 4-bangers...

Oh man I heard you work with Mark. He just asked me the same thing a couple of weeks ago. You know I did not know I had that many cars at the shop. Dad had informed me on how many were sitting there. I stopped at the shop tonight and we talked about chopping the 49 chevy truck. I need to get a better chassis for it. Looking for one now. Damn school and work are taking up too much time to do anything else.
Yea he is still working (lightly). Not sure for how long though.
Your car kicks ass, nice look to it.

Well I finally got the Chin Bar completed for my Track T Roadster....Talk about a pain in the ass. It took about $150 worth of material to get it to look the way I envisioned it to look. I looked at a lot of old race car photos to get a feel for what it should look like. Once I got the shape and look I like I tack welded it together then had a friend at work TIG it for me since a MIG weld is to much grinding work. I can't wait to see it chromed...

One trick I will share with you on bending tubing...Fill the tubing with sand from you kid's sand box...Keeps the tube from getting flat spots. (My kid kept asking why I was stealing her sand from her sand box and gave me dirty looks..:mad: ..) Worked great!
