49 chevy brakes work on 53?

Anyone know if the 49 and 53 chevy brake parts are interchangible?

I believe you could physically interchange them, although most people tend to regard the 53 brakes as being better than the 'huck' style brakes on the 49.

I may use the stock brakes on my 49 for a little while, but it'll eventually get a 'modern' 10 bolt out back and Chevelle discs up front!

Fat Hack is right. 51-54 brakes are MUCH better than the pre-51 brakes. They're also easier to get and cheaper.
