4 days left until the 90 miles north to Austin for the Round Up. The work over the past week has not been visually different, so I've not posted any new pics 'till now. Since the "11 days left" post, the following has been completed:
- Ran all electrical for gauges, tail lights, brake lights, head lights
- Ran mechanical gauges (water temp, oil pressure, oil temp)
- Installed headlights (military surpluss)
- Installed '50 Pontiac tail lights (repos)
- Installed original still in the box Hollywood license plate light (got a great deal on this along with 6 others still in the box)
- Bled the brakes
- Bled hydraulic throwout bearing. (Antichrysler, now I understand why you had a tought time bleeding this thing. Not much room in there if it is leaking)
- Custom made throttle cable and bracket. (Thanks to Creaase and his bicycle brake cable inginuity)
- Trimmed 1/4" off each fan blade tip to ensure it never gets into the lower radiator hose
- Installed '25 Model T gas tank
- Installed battery
- Finished rear lower shock mounts and installed rear shocks
- Installed front shocks
- Turned Buick drums to be concentric on the '50 Ford hubs
- Cut down radiator-to-firewall rods
So, what is left?
- Install spoon throttle pedal (tonight)
- Trim fender opening sheetmetal to completely clear rear spring (tonight)
- Secure deck lid and deck lid handle (tonight)
- Install door mechanisms and handles (Wednesday when they arrive)
- Install drive shaft
If there are no major hickups now, this Austin maiden voyage looks very real. Hopefully, the coupe will take its first venture on its own power out of the garage tonight for a short trip to the school so that it can go through the bicycle rodeo course in the parking lot (figured thats a great start). Can't wait for my first white-knuckled drive down the street. It'll be a little different than the white-knuckled ride in Crease's coupe last year at this exact same time.
Hope to see everyone in Austin Friday afternoon.
