hey all. im getting to the point now in construction that i should be thinking about what paint im going to go for. right now i want to just go with a primer black. im not really familiar with the paint side of cars. so can anyone point me in a direction of a durable flat/satin black primer.

and any other info you have about flat colors.

thanks

ppg DP-90 or regular black paint with a flatening agent.

DP-90 will fade rather quickly in sun and if water sits anywhere on it. It would probably be better to go with a base and flat clear. In my opinion though, if you're going to bother doing a flat clear, you may as well do it shiny.

DP90 is very durable but does fade, but a coat of clear over it w/ a little flat and UV protection could be the ticket.

just get the cheapest black base you can get and use flat clear on it, that's gonna be your best ticket is the car is gonna be shat on by birds, in the sun, or in any kind of not nice weather.

Does the flat clear look milky or yellow over a black base coat?

not that I've ever seen....looks like really clean primer, another plus is you can do any damn color you want instead of just the normal primer colors...

Can you wetsand and polish the flat clear like you would a regular clear if you get dust and crap in it?
