Hey Guys, I'm gettin' ready to drag my '50 Plymouth out of storage and a new paint scheme is in order. I did a quicky photo chop of an original car in gray, but can't figure out how to change the color or add scallops...etc... I'm thinkin' Pagan Gold with some tastefull white scallops...or...???? Thanks, Stitch

Cool Hack!!! I've been tossin' around the idea of pie cuttin' the hood to take that nose heavy look away. That will probably happen this fall. The car is already chopped and has a 15 year old paint job that needs redone...SO, it looks like cosmetics are all that will happen to get it on the road right now!

Im using paint shop 7, i also have phtoshop 6 (but barly use it) I used the fill picture with hard light/ soft light and overlay.. Then I probably use the long and hard way , by cutting out all chrome trim, windows , everything..
I just board from time to time, and like to play around.. Not a pro like Monster http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7 also, it's got most of the most useful parts of Photoshop but it takes about 1/10th as long to load. I just select the part I want to color, save it to an alpha channel (for future use), then go to Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Hue-Saturation-Luminance and pick "colorize", then fiddle with the sliders.

BTW, Blueskies... I've been to your website before. That's gonna be a great lookin car. I dig what you've done with the 6!!! I kinda hate that I blew mine up when I was 16, but dad said we could drop a small block in it if the six ever gave up the ghost... Back then it sounded like a green light for ABUSE to me http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Hell, it still does!!!

Ohh man...NOW you post the origional.....
I just frenched the headlights, shaved the gas door and the front turn-signals. Then I tucked the front bumper in and took the guards off. I also made the side spear longer.

OK I thought I would have a go at it as well. I did a little different on the chop and layed the back window down more which changed the contour of the roof. The chop is not radical and is more in the rear than the front. I also did a candy one just cause I can. Anyway thats my attempt. I can add some graphics or panels if thats what ya want?

Layin the back window really makes the car look better in my opinion, that back part of the roof has always been the downfall of those cars I think. Looks kickass in kandy red. Maybe a couple more inches out all around. I really gotta get photoshop.

Wow guys...THANKS!!! My printer is gonna be out of ink this afternoon! I never gave much thought to a slant chop... I have to agree that the rear of the top has always looked odd to me. I've even tossed around usin' a different roof off another early 50's car...but...???? Stitch

With the top chopped like that, it looks kind of like the wayfarer sedan. Oh, and just a word of advice. Keep the chrome on the front fenders, it'll save you a ton of work. The chrome covers the seam in the fender and sits on a kind of a shelf. The bottom half of the fender is larger than the top and you have to kind of section it, removing material vertically from the middle in order to get the seam to line up. Or you could do like every half assed shave I've seen on these cars and just build the top up with filler to match up. Every one I've seen has a big crack right along the seam. By the way, I love the scallops.
