hello to all here

just wanted to introduce myself, my name is jake, im 17 and im obsessed with cars to say the least...well all cars except asian imports (ricers) i like to chop, cut, rebuild etc.

i have a car that im rebuilding and customizing frame up, but based on what ive seen here. alot of you would probably flame up and tell me to get off this message board.

i came because i was told by another car lover that this was a great place to learn and i hope that everyone here can accept that not everyone owns a beautiful piece of american metal.

Welcome 122wagon...we all suffer from the same obsession as you.....it's a great lifestyle/passion .....don't worry about HAMBers getting on your case......I think most of us remember where we started at 17! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif..see you around the board brother. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I usually never respond to intros, for fear that I haven't been around too long on here myself...but,

I WISH I had the HAMB back when I was 17...I'm 29 now and I may have not gotten side-tracked with Chevelles if I had had the HAMB a while ago. If you really mean what you say, there is much to be learned on here. Stay tuned, soon enough, you won't want to mess with anything that doesn't have 16 GA sheetmetal on it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

well since you asked, i have a '68 volvo 122 wagon. its about as stripped as you can get a car right now. im planning to install an air side suspension, shaved door handles, custom grill work. frenched lights front and rear. custom made tweed/vinyl interior.

also i dont know if anyone here is into vintage volvos, but most came with 2.0 or 1.8 litre engines, i have a 1.8 they run about 90 hp stock but im going to run a 4-2-1 header with 2 1/2 pipes all the way back. also im going to run a blower on this engine. if anyone wants to read about this blower etc lemme know. im hoping to go from about 90 hp to 200. shouldnt be that tough.

Welcome to the hamb, I like the early volvos. They make great customs. It's on my list of "cars to cut up someday"
Let's see some pictures!

Welcome. I always kind of thought thouse suckers looked like baby 50 fords or mercs,.. if ya squnit yer eyes a little http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I say chop it, looks like all the side glass is flat, and if so, that would be easy. I know a real good glass man in the area.

122,

welcome. as stated above, i wish i had had the hamb when i was 17. unfortunately computers were huge corporation affairs (with about as much ability as a modern hand held calculator) then and personal computers hadn't even been invented yet.

however, regardless of whether or not i like volvos, join in; learn; ask questions; answer if/when you know the answer. sounds like you came here to learn. you will. and you'll be glad you're here.

it's nice to see more of your generation signing on here.

Let me flame up here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I had a '59 Volvo for several years, a good dependable baby '40 ford http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I loved it. As good a parts chaser as I ever had. As close to a '40 as I ever had too.
Build what you will friend, no skin off my nose.

Where'd you find that pic of the 122 coupe?
Sharp!
I've got a 544 that's getting a late model turbo drivetrain and a 445 Wagon that's getting a Nailhead stuffed into it.
Welcome to the HAMB!

What I like about a "tuned" Volvos is it's so anti the typical Volvo appliance-on-wheels stereotype.

I used to have a 67 Volvo 122s. It was great. I just saw a mid 60s VOlvo wagon the other day in Chicago. Anyway, welcome aboard. Do a search here on the HAMB. A few weeks ago Evel bought a 122 and there was a long and informative post about it. I added a bunch of parts links that you may need.
