My intrepid INTERNET surfing wife (Pat) found the H.A.M.B. (hence the Racyredhead) while trying to find info on parts I (Wesley) found in my fathers attic. Pat and I both have an extensive background in racing. I also have an extensive background in building race cars, hot rods, customs and even a lowrider (96 & 97 Lowrider Magazine Truck of the Year). In Austin Texas there is not enough of any one kind of racing, so I had to learn all sorts of disciplines. My specialty is making things that work, whether it something I built or fixing something that someone else attempted. The first car I built (1975) was a tube frame dune buggy that I raced in the swamps around Houston. Then I gravitated to muscle cars with a big block Charger in which Drag racing was a natural. From there I found Sports cars and Auto crossing. From there Road racing, I couldn't afford to race on my own so I went to work for others on Trans-am and IMSA cars. Then a friend and I got drunk at the circle track one night and decided to build a Bomber, and that led to modifieds on dirt and asphalt. Somehow or another that turned into working for a Winston Cup team ( I just followed the road were ever it lead). Along the way father and I built a 27 T roadster for drag racing, when he got sick and decided not to drive any more I ended up with the car (and all of the bills). We are about 3 weeks away from having the new 489 BBC running and will be back at the track. While I do not profess to be an expert on anything in particular, I can figure out most things mechanical. Cars that I have built or rebuilt that I am most proud of (in no particular order) a tube frame 49 Chevy business coupe that drives like a vette, the low rider truck, a 32 ford powered by a 230 CID mercruiser boat motor and of course my roadster. My kids will be out of high school in 3 years and then I will give up my real job and build cars for others again. Thanks for listening to me babble.
