View Full Version : Lincoln 2OHC V8 in a '59 T bird?
A friend of mine is aquiring a '92 Lincoln dual OHC V8, tranny and a Mustang IRS and is going to put it all in his '59 T-Bird.
I'm going to be getting greasy on this one too so has anyone put one of these engines in a '59 era FORD product and know what He/I am going to need in the way of motor mounts, tranny mounts, etc?
Its coming complete with wiring, computer, AC, radiator, drive shaft all of it.
HELP?
thanks,
Unkl Ian

Those motors are pretty WIDE,
but if they can squeeze one in the front of a stock looking Escort,
you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Wide i'm not worried about. I can adjust the fender wells with my BFSH http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I just don't want to go thru the trouble to fab mounts and then find out I coulda bought some already made.

exactly what motor is this? the 92 would have a 4.6 sohc, the dohc is the fwd 3.9. either way it should fit the suspension maybe have to trim fender wells or other body parts. the mount up is not like any other earlier motors so I doubt anybody is manufacturing mounts yet, hopefully the motor will come with mounts and you can just fab brackets. what year is the mustang IRS from?

Thanks for the history/specs. I'm really oblivious to "New" cars and their parts. It supposedly has the tranny attached and a drive shaft coming with it so it's not a FWD so maybe the guy describing it calls a left bank cam and a right bank cam dual cam? I don't know I haven't seen it yet, and he gets it Wednesday. Don't know what year rear.
