View Full Version : HAMB GAS the Stude is southbound
Radshit and his buddy Ken came up to the the House of Zeke. Drank all my beer, ate my food and hauled the stude down to Casa de Radshit today.
The stude ready to roll minus the front clip do to time and weight factors. I swear I'll get it soon Rodger http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif.
They wolfed down some stew and were off. Total time in Denver less than 3hrs.

Damn, is it 12:30 YET??? And I, once again, waited all day for you...
What weight? That foreign truk couldn't handle an extra 200 pound front clip?
Well, the clip is now outside the fence, come get it any time...

Wow. You can tow that stude with that toyota? Maybe I went overoard when I picked out a parts truck. Seriously, that's gonna make a nice gasser. It's a good feeling when progress is made isn't it? Keep us updated.
Sorry Roger. I don't mean to be pain in the ass about this really. I should have called you. and let you you know we where gonna make it over there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

No big deal really, Zeke...have plenty of T-shirt work to keep me here...but just hadda give you shit about your manners!
Besides, you and your pals missed the rad '57 sitting in the garage...getting new brakes, tires and wheels in anticipation of the trip to the Kontintentals Austin, Texas Lonestar Round-up...oh well, you blew it!

its amazing what a little truck can do with a little skill and patience! i pulled a trailer with a 50whatever chevy truck, loaded down with other crap, with a 4 cyl S-10, Iowa to Colorado! sure it got a little slow at times, and BULLSHIT if Kansas is flat! but i made it. you just gotta think like the old timers and not be in a hurry.
you sure get the looks when your load is twice the size of a small truck, but in proportion its similar to loaded down big diesels.
Crap!!! I got a bottle of Zin for ya to make up for it anyway.

Thank you...the apology will be accepted when you hand me the bottle...I assume it's the best there is? I drink only the VERY BEST Zinfandel.

We are leaving in the morning. Root and Rashy are here now. See ya'll tomorrow.
Have fun boys, we are closing on the acreage tomorrow night so I cant make it (course ya knew that)
And yes, a little truck can handle big loads. My 2000 Ranger with the small V6 has pulled several 55s and 54 parts cars. Think about it, back in the 50s, Farmer Brown towed his 4000 ound hay wagon with a 50 Chevy PU. The wheelbase was like a small truck and in some cases the motor was smaller! I agree, you do get looks when the trailor/car is 10 feet longer than the tow rig!!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
i had kinda a scary load a while back, my s-10 had to be called to duty to retrieve a free broken down 95 s-10 blazer, used a car dolly, problem is didn't have good straps, so had to make do with some other tie down straps to hold it down to the dolly, resulting in NO give in the steering of the towed vehicle! talk about strange looks as i maneuvered around gas station parking lots, tires squalling, four banger rappin thru a glasspack as the towed vehicle pushes the towing vehicle around sideways, slow motion drifting! an engine block for ballast would have helped a bit. i imagine it looked pretty dangerous to the layperson, fortunately i know exactly what i'm doing! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
or the time the rear tires were hanging two feet in the air as i winched a donor onto the trailer....

HAHA!...this is the little truck that could......you should see what I hauled to Cali in this thing......
Well we made it!.......Anybody that hasn't been pushed 440 miles by a Studebaker Wagon needs to try it someday....hehehe
It's 11:00pm and I'm ready to crash......
40Stude I wish we could have visited but our main goal...due to weight contributors was to beat Denver's Rush hour traffic....and construction
Beat Colorado Springs' rush hour and construction and even avoid Pueblo's rush hour traffic...so we had to blaze out of Denver by 2:00pm......sorry
Depending on my load next month...we may return for another road trip to retreive that clip.......but we will see how April plays out......
See you fellas soon......Out
