View Full Version : Progress pic of the `26 modified
Yea I know, no zommies, only one carb and it's painted. `31 Chevy rails pinched to fit the T body that I narrowed 4". Front axle is an old More drop which I drilled, 40 Ford rear with an open drive shaft conversion. 2.5 motor out of a Chevy Monza with a 5 speed trans from a Camaro. Rims are 35 Ford with the fronts cut down to 15" X 5" and the backs 16" widened 3" on the out side and 1" on the inside.

NICE work, that looks really good. The whole chassis looks perfect, and the 4-banger rocks. THe paint looks good too, somethin different. Great work
Mike
1. great job so far
2. is that tranny crossmember drilled?
3. did you widen the rims yourself? have someone else do it? who? are you satisfied with the work? do you/they want to do some more?
4. don't forget to post some more pix further down the line.

Wow, that's really cool. I'm impressed. What are those tires? I thought they were radials at first but they've got a weird tread pattern.
Keep up with the pics!

The tranny crossmember is used sign post. you use what ya got.
The rims were widen by myslef with a lot of help from some friends that have a big lathe. Outside welding was done with a tig by a budy and the inside mig I did. Ran them on my 28 roadster for about 5,000 miles and they work great.
Bigcheese, they are radials, I was looking for a tire with a tight pattern when I found thies.
I have a two more pic I wanted to post but they are to big, and I'm to computer stupid to resize them. Anybody help me out??
Email em to the shop. I will resize them.

Tom, that is gonna be a fun ride! Question about the front suspension and those cool little arms with the holes in them - is there any kind of anti roll built in? Are those your idea or is it modeled after a factory set up?
tom,
for the bands you used when you widened the wheels: did you roll them from flat steel or did you cut up other wheels?

Cool looking ride. Great to see another modified being built.
Ed- the radials are Nova brand- 165R15 VW bug size
Tman- tell Gene they are old pics
PknBner-Exhaust is cast iron, it's factory split- I have 2 pipes running out the back-LOUD- going to have to add baffles.
Tudor- Home made friction shocks with clutch disk material stacked in between with a bf spring.
Atch- For the rear used 3"(on the outside) & 1"( on the inside) wide bands and run them in a slip roller. The front used a space saver 15' rims, they are 4" wide. Cut off the 16" next to were the spokes attach and welded on the 15" rims, they are 5 1/2" wide now

Looking pretty dandy there Tom. I'm still painting parts on mine. I did get door strikers and latches fit this week. Had to move one door pocket where the latch bolts on and modify the striker on the other side. Always another something.
