The OD unit on the Packford special was working last week but when I drove it on Friday the damn thing's not working. I looked for a loose connection, I can't find any, there's no clicks no nothing. The freewheeling lever's free, I don't know what it could be. I accidentally left the thing on for several hours a few weeks ago, but it worked fine after that, it just drained the battery. I've bypassed the governer and I simply have an on/off toggle switch operating it.
If anyone has any clue about what problems I might have, please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

If there is power to the solenoid and it doesn't activate, it probably is fried. Where you running 12 volts to it? Good luck, Frank

Yeah Buford I was, it's a '56 Packard tranny, it runs on 12 volts. I didn't see anything in my wiring diagram that suggests it's 6 volt. Now I wasn't running through a relay or anything, I don't think that oughta make a difference, right?
Man I hope it's not fried, those solenoids are really pricey.

I'm a big stupid moron. I can't believe this, the wire that takes the power to ground had come off my toggle switch. That's all it was.
I feel pretty stupid right about now.

NADS,
Would have any suggestions on hooking up a 55 Chevy 3 speed manual with overdrive???
It has a Driver-side mounted lever and solenoid as well as another thing-a-ma-jig on the rear pass. side.
Just some rig that would work other than finding a vintage HURST shifter like Max was saying.
Thanks,
Bob
