I was given a 29-30 chev radiator and grill shell and the rad is in real nice shape, would this cool a '56 235? I've always heard that the stovebolts aren't to hard to cool. The radiator was for a 206 inline(the REAL early stovebolts)so I think it should cool the 235 just fine, maybe? It has the honey comb style core in it, it's cap looks similar to a 2 inch pipe thread should I find a remake cap or see if I can adapt a newer style on it? How wide are the grill shells usually? This one looks like a similar length/width to the '33 truck unit I had(about 4" taller than a cars).

I would say it would do the job.
have it cleaned and dont paint it much-RUN A GOOD SOLID FAN-also get a NOS cap or a gasket, and run the recommended [4psi] pressure it was designed for.

What is a good source for a rad cap?

I wonder what years used the same cap? It would be cool to find something origonal versus a modern cap(esteticly speaking). I was thinking of having a machinest freind widdle a plug outta aluminum then weld a newer style cap bung on it.

I would say you would have no problems with that radiator. The one I run in my blown 225 is out of a 51 Henry J and is only two core and a lot smaller than the one I took the 225 out of.
I also run a tank up front with an extra 3.5 gallons in it and plumbed it through the heater hoses. It runs around 175 in the middle of the summer here in Fla.

Jesse,

If you need any parts/whatever for those radiators, I have two '31 radiators and a grille shell up in my loft. I'm sure we could work something out/trade/whatever.

Cool, I'll let you know if I need something. I wonder if Kanter would carry such a thing as a cap? I looked all over he internet today for someone that sells them, nothing, not one place.

Next time I'm up in the loft I'll see if there's a cap on either of my radiators.
