Having read that SIMCA produced a OHV motor based on the FRENCH version of the V8-60. Has anyone seen one?
Anyone have a spare SIMCA flathead laying around??
I've got BIG plans...

I have ford and simca V8-60 both flatheads. Havn't decided what to do with them yet. I'm sure both are stuck.

I have only read about them and found the odd picture. A couple of sites have said that they are an Ardun conversion, but they certainly don't have the right valve covers for that ...

Here's a complete Simce Vedette w flathead v8-60 for sale in NZ. I bet there are still a few tucked away in Aussie that would be easier to get !

As I understand it, the OHV version was developed by Simca in Brazil. This picture is supposedly a Brazilian Simca V8, and I understand that they are still to be found in Brazil.
Ardun also made heads for the 60, but I have never seen pictures of them.

A genuine Ardun V8-60 was on ebay a couple of months back. Looks exactely like the full size flatties as I remember. The description said it was one of only a handful ever made. The thing was in "as found" condition and bidding started at $75000!!!
That would make a little trip to South America worthwile. I love the look of that OHV conversion. Anybody have any horsepower figures on those?

The 60 Arduns don't look much like the 85 Arduns. The 60s look more like that Simca overhead. The valve covers are "bumpier".

There was a V8-60 powered Simca running around Douglas, GA, back in the '70s. Little car had duals with glasspacks and sounded great. The owner said he drove the car from South America to the US.

So... They were V8 60hp only??? I found a set of these heads and the head gaskets look like my full sized Merc flatty (or Ford).
Were they 60 ONLY?
Thanks,
Kevin

I believe they were V8-60 only. Here is a link to an earlier thread:

Hello folks!! (from Brazil).....
I was looking for information about SIMCA flatheads on google when i found this thread.... I know it´s old, but I have some information about it....
Yes, brazilian SIMCA produced flatheads (1959-67 when the factory plant was purchased by chrysler)...
They also upgraded the old V8 (the factory race team had 144 hp Simca Chambords with those flatheads), and brazilian simca´s engeneers developed the "Emi-Sul" ("Emi" stands for Hemispheric and "Sul" for south, as they was developed in south america), this is a very interesting engine, with "hemispheric chambers", i don´t know about english literature about this engine, it´s a really interesting engine but vith fragile parts and just 140 hp.... if you think a little you will figure out how to do a Hemi-Flathead :P....
difficult to find, but here you can see some pics of this engina in a 1969 Simca Regente http://museudodge.blogspot.com/2010/08/andando-de-emi-sul-v8.html
Another variation was the "Tufao" with 110 hp....
In the 70´s and 80´s was very common people swap the flatheads with chevy´s 153 or 151, (our 151 was nothing but a 153 variation that runs better, more "smooth") because they had good power and were reliable with low cost parts......
excuse my poor english...
hope you have enjoyed the information....
