johnnygringo, this is the best shot i have of the headlights. this is the second set up the car had. in 55 when it was first shot for a magazine it had a homemade setup.

Kookie would pull a comb out of his back pocket and comb his duck tails all the time on the show. He became a teenage idol. There was a girl song that hit the charts.."Kookie Kookie lend me your comb."

Years later Fonzie was supposed to copy the act but, the actor came up with the classic pose looking in the mirror...My hair is perfect and doesn't need to be combed! Kookie started it.

yes it was , I met Byrnes at the BTT50's 2 years ago , same cocky guy as the show and not a car guy , but interesting anyway.Called me "bro" god !I hate that. BTW "war of the worlds" is on turner classics right now,ya ,old movie buff.

I vaguely remember the show...wish it was still on!
I remember in one episode the Kookie Kar was supposed to race another Hot Rod, the "Chrome Coffin". Anyone remember that episode? Love to see a pic of the two of them together. Anyone know anything about the Chrome Coffin? What was it?
The name just stuck in my mind all these years...

Marty Hollmann's 1915 Ford T bucket was the "Chrome Coffin".

It was the feature car in the "Chrome Coffin" which was the 15th episode of the 4th season of "77 Sunset Strip".

It was also the car that the Lindberg "Bobtail T" model was based on.

Marty & Norm Grabowski were friends. Norm was member #10 and Marty was member #11 of the L.A. Roadsters club.

Marty Hollmann's 1915 Ford T-Bucket is pictured here (top right & lower left) and was the "Chrome Coffin" that was the namesake for the episode.

It drag raced without the windshield installed. Rather "tacky" decal on the side, but a very cool car nonetheless.

I remember the old pickup on The Real McCoys. The other was " The Doobie Gillis Show". They had a bunch of rods on that show, even some drag racing stuff....with Mainard G Grebs
