Dad and i had my pick-up running this weekend . We used a dodge dokota front clip . Now the problem we are having is the one i was worried about using a power rack .
I did not use a sport rack, i was told that one was too quick . I used a power steering pump off a mid 80s monte carlo . I made the brackets fit the 307 real easy . Now the
problem . You touch the steering wheel with 1 finger and just give a spin like wheel of fortune and around it goes . I know i dont have the fenders on yet but this is way to easy .
Thinking it was the power steering pump , i looked at a dokota pump and it looks the same . They are both saginaw pumps from what the book says .
Is there a diff in pumps from the saginaw steering box to the steering rack ?

Pump pressure will be less on a rack system, than a box system. You need to run a pump designed for a Rack and Pinion.

Thanks a lot . I purchased a dakota rebuilt pump and switched just the valve in the back and now the steering is to stiff at idle .
It looks like the dokota pump will fit the can from the monte . I guess that would be my next try . It least i have had both now . No steering and too fast .
Thanks for all the help .
