Suggestion: Raise username pic limit from 1K to 2K?

I know they can be hosted offsite like Nads' burlesque video, but it'd be nice to have just a teensy bit more headroom on the HAMB-hosted username pics. I'm pretty good at reducing photo sizes and even I struggle with the 1KB limit. 2K, on the other hand, works great. 1.5K would even work in a pinch.

Anyway. Just a suggestion.

Wayne, if you use a hosting site instead of Ryans server they can be larger. If you need a list of places that host photos or gif files for free just let me know, I'd be happy to pass those along to you.

Yep, I could host pics on my own server as well. Judging from the number of red X's by usernames, I suspect raising the limit would be helpful to some of the HAMBers who are less technical than I am...

Rocket- I posted a picture for you to try in your "picture by your name" thread. Give that a shot.

Volken- Reducing the display size of the pic helps, but it makes the pic pretty small. I've found that saving as a .gif file with a reduced color palette works the best, although it's still tricky to get an 80x80 pixel pic under 1000 bytes without it looking like crap.

(On the other hand it's easy for me to get it under 2000 bytes, which is why I posted this thread.)

Anyway, try that out. If it doesn't work, post a standard size version of your pic up here and I'll give it a go.
