Those are boat lights. I guess they would work. I wonder if you would catch any shit from the DPS?

I guess you wouldn't if the red was your tail light, and the white was your back-up light...

Here's a thought for you... 1948, the "back up light" was not commonly found on a car. That's later safety stuff.

I'm not saying that those lights are newer than the 40s.. I'm saying that those lights are off of an old boat.

I am saying that it would be unlikely for someone to put clear lights on the back of their car in the 40's. Clear lights are back up lights. They did sell add on back up lights in the 40's (single light mounted under one tail light) but I would think a hot rodder would think they were for wusses.

Just an idea, but why not divide the light into two sides from the inside along the chrome strip that runs through the middle of the lense. Then you could run one bulb in the red lense side for running lamps/brake lights and turn signals, and run the clear side as back-up lights.

You could always paint the bottom lens red.

Or run a red bulb.

I think they look bitchin http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
