So my best friend moves to town recently. He is the guy all of my great mountainbike road trips were done with. He is a bike guy with some flyfishing and gun sports thrown in. Last night we did a pub crawl and he askes me about "convertibles", like my touring and my boss' roadster. So as the Guiness flows I outline a 25 T, low slung like Saltflatmatts Greaser T. I recently was given a 194 6 banger that will prob go into it. I am really jazzed about this, I get to build another car only for him this time!

so your building a car for him?

dude... the more "friends" projects you work on means NO time for your project.

If I were you... id just work on your project

you need to get TMAN TIME and learn to say fuck everyone else...
just my 2 cents

tuck, i totally agree... recently, all my friends seem to think that i'm their mechanic/bodyman/car-appraiser/everything-else guy, and i've finally just said "fuck it, go pay a mechanic..."

and now i'm getting stuff done.

< ahem >

I finally woke up to this sad fact last year... as I spent most of my time helping or directing other friends in the hobby and working on my stuff... that and working, and going to college full time... WTF? i figured out the amount of time I did have to work on cars was almost NULL and I spent that NULL time, the majority of it doing things for others, helping or something along the those lines...

I wasnt getting anything done although it may be fun to get friends involved, in the big picture it needs to be ALL YOU if you going to get ANYTHING done at all.

I look back at the last (6) months and I'm like DAMN why didnt I do this SOONER????

Its cool if he helps you grind some welds, and you help him grind some welds but a full on project... NO WAY DUDE.

Its funny how you can spend a whole day on doing something so minor on your car...

to get your car DONE, FINISHED you need a calander full of WHOLE DAYS... which turns into years bla bla bla

I dont think any amount of trade off is worth it... there are resources somewhere that'll alow you to work on your own ride... for YOU

I would love to see you get YOUR project done T... I would stay away from your drinkin buddy... lay off the guniss

How old are you now??? were only young for so long bro, why waste that time helpin everyone else get farther than you in the hobby...

Just focus on TMAN
get your T done...
and enjoy your youth rippin up the streets in it, rather than just dreaming of doing it...

I hope its not to late...
just trying to help T
for real...
not preaching...
HELPING SAVE A BROTHA
ya dig?

I hear ya, he is my riding partner though. I am back spending more time on my bike than I had been. My project comes first THEN we will work on his. He is busy settling into his new house and has a youngin so I see his car starting a little further down the line. As of right now we are in research mode. I am sure he will start buying parts soon but no real work til mine is on the road. He does afterall have to learn the ropes and earn his stripes by doing all the grunt work on mine http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
