Trying this again, with Rocky's resizing expertise...THANKS ROCKY. Last weekend I traded my '46 Ford coupe for this '31 RS coupe with speed equipment and juice brakes. I know it needs lowered, paint change, lose the stone guard, etc.I had been thinking of building a 4 banger for awhile, this is a good start.

Why does it need a paint change? Looks very '40s to me, I like it. Good luck with the 'banger. I'd probably cop out and build V8 running gear.

If the fenders go, so will the spare tire and bumpers.

Looks like you'll have to change your HAMB name now..."THIRDY ONE"??? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If that was my car I'd lower it till the wheels "fit" in the fender openings and call it done!
I'm npt saying it's "too nice to rod" I'm just pointing out that you have to pull the body off to take the aprons off so why not start with a frame and body that are already apart to build an AV8 or banger, or whatever you're planning?

Great trade man. I'd trade a post-war fat fendered rig anyday for that cool a-bone.

Yea.....I know.....I'm gay, but it's still a shame to fuck up a nice original piece. There is so much junk out there to work with. It's like cutting down trees to build a house and then planting new trees and waiting twenty years to have shade...... IMHO (it IS yours though and a damn fine looking piece!)

Somebody did a really nice job on your coupe, Steve. I'm in agreement about not changing very much on your car at first. I'd give the little car a year reprieve before I made any serious changes but in the meantime, I'd lower it, lose the spare tire, step plates, tailight stands and bumpers. Just unbolt and store that stuff in the garage for later.......drive it a year and then make a decision about V/8 motors etc etc.
In fact, the more I look at it, I may just keep all that extra stuff bolted up after all...for a year, anyway..

And Steve, you're leaving out the very bestest part of the little hot rod...the "B" banger! Feast your eyes!

Lose a few of the "ornaments", a set of Kelseys, some 7.50's on the rear, reversed eyes, and a 32 "heavy" axle up front...that's what I would do.

So give us a little more info. What are you thinking about doing with her? What color? I like that brandywine...but ya' just can't go wrong with good old black, especially w/ black wire wheels and wide whites. Any thoughts on chopping or channeling? It sure would look good way down low.
Looks like a great start & a solid car. Good luck.

Whoa, Nelly!!! I'd have a hard time doing too much with that little beauty. As mentioned, maybe lower it a little, take off the bumpers, no wait, just take off the hood sides so you can see that beautiful little 4 banger and drive the hell out of it. You don't find an A in that kind of condition very often, it would be a shame to spoil it. OK lower it just a tad, and remove the hood sides. DONE!!!
Let me know if you decide to sell the 4 holer, it would make a great lakes modified engine.
