Hey there!

My buddy is looking for a raced out power glide tranny. He has a few places hes looking to get either the internals or a complete trans. I was wondering if any of you guys would have a complete one or internals for building his own?

hes got a 68 chevelle with a stroked 400. we'll be back halfing it shortly for tubs and looking to get some track time in this season.

Hes looking for an aluminum powerglide with a case thats cut for a JW Ultra Bell and mounts a SBC. Those are SFI Certified to take the place of a flexplate shield and bolts right on.

Hed also be interested in finding someone or a good place for internal parts to build his own, like the internal springs, clips, bolts and such. Also seeking vertically cut planitary gears, and maybe a beefed up sun gear if availible(?)

Thanks for any tips, links, ideas or offers! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, we build them for several GM trannys

What all is required to convert to a trans brake on a glide. Unfortunately I have a 1.82 instead of the 1.76....can't afford all the good stuff.

You need the valve body , brake solenoid. Replace the shift arm with a one piece unit to eliminate the dual levers, plus the new arm works with aftermarket shifters better

The OE trans case needs some drilling for better oil flow in reverse.

Stronger return springs in the reverse piston for a cleaner release / launch.

The OE pump should have some areas modified for better oil flow to the converter.

1.82 is fine for lower hp application. Cyrogenic treating the 1.82 planet really helps the strength
