Hello, I am Jim Bailey in Hesperia California.

Thanks for having such a Great Message Board !! :D

I have 1936 Pontiac Limo Hearse that I am restoring. I am going to install a 1959 235 Chevy pickup motor, I also have a complete 1955 GMC truck differential that I may use in it.... . BUT, my question is... Which transmission to use ?? I am thinking or a Chevy S10 5 Speed transmission. Will it bolt up ?? Will I need an adapter ?? What are your thoughts as far as drive-ability ?? I think the 1955 GMC rearend is a 3:90 ratio but I am not sure yet. Would this be a good differential to use with my '59 235 ?? I like the thought of a split exhaust and Fenton intake with dual carbs. Maybe it would run as good as it would look. Dual single carbs look just plain Sexy to me.

MY GOAL is to have a VERY Unique, Stylish Ride, that I could drive anywhere, with a little towing power. Maybe an updated camshaft would be in order also.

Please give me your thought and input.

My Sincere Thanks In Advance :)

Jim
I would lose the 235 and go to the later and better 230/250/292 engines . More parts are available including hop up stuff and any CarQuest/ NAPOA etc had parts for them .
