I'm finally working on the old 56 chevy shop truck
thats been in the family for over 30 years.
I have mono leafs on it now, but would like to
go a little lower in the front.
I have seen these dropped axles made by Worm inc.
(Cen Pen).
They claim a 3" drop over stock.
Has anyone out there installed one yet?
A pic would be cool.
Any other lowering methods out there except:
"why don't you IFS it, or sub frame it"
TIA

Hay- Visor....would it be possible to "step"the frame[behind rear [frt]spring mount 3" /re angle steering column/drop the front few inches of frame 3" in front of springs?it would surely mean rework of front engine stands [if still the front] mount....if side mounts I think it would be all OK.....is that crazy?

I had a 37 Chevy truck with the org. straight axel and what I did was have my springs de-arched.

Maybe try an MAS dropped tube axle? I have one under my Chevy and despite my complaints (you'll have to rework it a bit), it was a good deal at $159. They're available in drops up to 7", custom widths are available, and they take the 49-54 passenger spindle so you can get 5-lug drums outa the deal too.

get hold of elpolacko and have the original axle dropped! prool less than what the cen-pen would cost. and the truck would stay original.
can you get any more traditional!

Choprods......I know you've got it all work out
for your 58 don't ya?
Great idea and sounds like it would slam it.
I just want to do a little quick lowering job without
turning it into another project. You know what I mean?
I've got to much other shit to finish.
I know you don't have that problem. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
edmurder.. thanks for the info on the mas axles.
I here you on the chevy car brakes.. already done
on the front. and running a 56 chevy car rear with
posi.
Jerry.......These old trucks from 55-59 have a least a 4" drop
in the stock axle.. so I'm not sure if you can
stretch them any futher.

No- Visor-It just occoured to me that was another do-able option....I am doing a subframe clip and stepping the frame 6" at the splice! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifThis damn truck looks like a 4 wheel drive......

i've got a 50 chev truck myself. elp posted a pic of an axle that has an additional drop to it, i think about 2-3 more inches. it can be done. those axles have plenty to work with.
i'll see him tomorrow and see if he can post a pic of the one they have at the shop.

1LowDelivery.......Read my post man,
I already have mono leafs on it now!
They are lower than a de-arched spring.
You can only go so far with flatter
springs, Raising the shackles etc, as it moves
the axle up closer to the frame rails and
limits travel.
You have to move the end of the axles
upwards.... as in dropped axle.
Jerry.. thanks man, I will be waiting to see
what elp has to say.

I've though the same thing about this old Chevy truck I've got.
I thought about getting one of those 7" dropped tube axles from MAS Racing. I still need to research this one a little more.
