I got the power steering hooked up on the 54 last night and after finding out why you don't hook them up backwards where the pressure side is going into the low side. I got it hooked up correctly now but I can start it up and let it run for a minute then kill it and it starts puking out all the power steering fluid and the fluid has turned to some kind of white foamy crap. I got it all over the front of the motor. I'm wondering if there isn't a little bit of water in the steering rack maybe and that is causing it to puke the fluid back up out of the cap? Its got a new powersteering pump from a 68 chevelle on it with one of those washer kits in it to reduce the pressure. I put new lines on it but the rack is the stock one for the front end and it was on there when I bought the car. The front end is suppose to be an 80 mustang suspension but I haven't a clue if it really is. I ordered parts for it and they were for a mid 70's front end and they fit fine so who knows what year that crap is. Anyone had any problems with they're power steering pumps puking foamy fluid out before? How did you fix it? When the motor is running it doesn't do it. But you can tell the system isn't full yet because the pump will whine when you turn the wheel a little bit and if you look down in it you don't see any fluid while its running. I wonder if I could flush the system and fix the problem?
