I'm not a very technical guy. I can't outdo Ray on any pinstriping techs, so I thought I'd post a few of the cars I enjoyed at this past Detroit Autorama.

Until I get a digital camera, I still develop film thru a outside source. Some are now trickling in. I hope you enjoy!

I'm not too partial to T-Birds, but this is one of the nicest.

http://photo.starblvd.net/~jhpeters/5-1-5.jpg
This Shoebox was a little much for me, but still a kool ride.

http://photo.starblvd.net/~jhpeters/5-1-4.jpg
My favorite, I loved this car. Just a little El Vago and it's done. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

More to come.

The Olds is owned by Jon Hall in Saginaw. The man has so many cars he has a warehouse to keep them in. No one knows why he just bought this one . It will probable sit and not be driven. Maybe he just wanted to own something like the unwashed masses. hehe!!

Nice pics Joel. That T-Bird is one hell of a car.I agree;the Shoebox is a little busy but to each his own. That Olds IS begging for a few lines. The gold Ford next to the Olds;the guy wanted me to stripe it once! Nice car but I don't see where it could be striped. The flames kind of negate that.JMHO

Joel: Did you get any pics of that BEAUTIFUL Candy Red 52 Caddy or the blue and ivory 63-64 Caddy with the opening grille? Those were two that really "tripped my trigger".That Brizio built 32 with the 35 grille was great also.

Fab32: That Olds Rules! To bad about it's ultimate fate. It should be out every week at some cruise night. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Safariknut: Ray, I gotta drag some more film outta the developers this weekend. I pretty sure I got the Red '52 Caddy. The bue and ivory one , no.

Just a point of interest Ray, Do you believe in adding a pinstripe design on the center of a hood that's been flamed? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm an ass man by nature, so here's a few of the nicer rearends from the Detroit Autorama. Enjoy!

Here's that Kool T-Bird.

http://photo.starblvd.net/~jhpeters/5-2-3.jpg
Does this chop work with the length of those Caddy quarters? I can't decide. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

http://photo.starblvd.net/~jhpeters/5-2-4.jpg
Here's my new love again. That's a rearend to leave home for! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Barnett: Dan, I came back on Sunday and purposely stayed away from the Pinstripers H.Q. so I could see rides and take pics. I was able to get 2 hrs.in before being bagged and held by Pinstriping pirates. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great shots Joel. THANKS!

The White truck/purple flames is owned by none other then our own Starliner's grandpa, Bill Wetstone. A GREAT guy with an AWESOME collection.

The Chevy with the Caddy rear is own/built by a really young guy who took the Alexander Brothers Design award at the Autorama. Well deserved, I loved that car.

It would depend a lot on the individual car.For instance,on the white and blue Shoebox the striping is very contrasty(?)with the flames but I actually kind of like the look.On the Ford pickup(which is really nice)I think I would've left the striping off to preserve the clean look.Just my opinion.

Did anyone get some photos of the blue 4dr Fleetline that was parked right behind that flat black Olds? That car was kick-ass...almost didn't spot it for a more-door at first!!!

Here's a story about the blue Chevy 4-door.

I saw that car at a show years ago -- I think it was Goodguys Indy 1991. I was amazed at the excellent chop and how completely it disguised the fastback 4-door origin of the car.

The owner/builder was near the car, and he was an older guy with a Billy Gibbons-style beard. I complimented him on the car and asked if he had been building customs for a long time. He replied, "No, this is the first one I've ever built."

I asked him why he happened to start with a fastback 4-door, as it seemed like a challenging body style to customize. He said, "It's the only car I had."

Wonderful.

Here's a shot of my favorite custom at the Autorama. He was a Ridler contender but didn't make the "Great Eight". I have no clue why, seemed to me everything was done to beyond perfection.

I've been slowly added photos to my Star album but that site has been running slow so it's taken me forever. I took and uploaded lots of photos of HAMB folks and the Panel Jam there. Feel free to take a look now and I'll continue to add photos till the album is full.

Hey Denise,

Thanks for adding to the thread! That's an awesome kustom, I did not get shots of that one. The bodywork and detail was spectacular. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
