The car is SO close to being 'done' I can taste it...

But I need to rebuild the front end of the '65 Riviera...
it's a bit loose and needs help...

Who makes the best front end stuff for these cars..??
I need upper lower a-arms, upper and lower balljoints, tie rods,
center link, etc... basically the whole cha-cha...

Also, is there a disc brake conversion kit anybody makes..??

Any and all info greatly appreciated..!!!

Thanks..!! Snacks...

Snacky -

How's the Rivi coming?
I'm in the middle of painting right now. As long as the weather stays on my side I'm gonna be ready for Roundup. Show some pics, I'll shoot some to you when I am closer.

Kanter maybe? Maybe online parts place like Napa or somebody? I get first dibs on the aluminum drums you're replacing via a disc brake kit..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rear swaybar would help, how much I dunno.

Ok first off I'll settle the disc brake question the easy and less expensive way "spent some time cross-referencing numbers in parts books and found that the '70 Riviera single-piston caliper/one piece rotor and spindle was a bolt-on to the 1964 ball joints. He located a '70 Riv in a scrap yard and took the power master cylinder and proportioning valve, as well as the spindle and brake components. Once he shorted the output shaft of the '64 booster to work with the '70 master cylinder, he had a factory-engineered disc brake system for the Riv"

That should handle your disc brake question, as for front end parts. Head on over to http://www.rivowners.org/restore.html
There are a bunch of links to a bunch of different suppliers. They should have ya covered...

zman, do that conversion work for fullsize buicks to. not that i need to do it now since i just rebuilt the brake but would be good future reference.

snacky,
master power brakes in charlotte, nc does a custom disc conversion but it way up there like close to 2 grand or something like that. you send 'em your spindles and they make you a kit. they advertise in most mags maybe give 'em a call and see if they've gotten any cheaper...ken....

I don't know what other buicks the swap will work on. But I do know that Master Power has gotten no cheaper. I can drive down there and pick the stuff up, but I won't due to super high prices. Ray (ironhunter) might know what other buicks the swap will fit...

you guys Rule...!!

The Rivi is slowly but surely coming along...
my tranny decided to take a crap on me the last couple of weeks...
it's at the shop right now getting it's fate decided...
Super-cool old owner dude was STOKED on it...
Hopefully that will translate to a good job done for a
decent price...

After I get it back, the next step is to POR-15 the whole interior,
wait a week, take it to my buddy's stereo shop,
we're going to sound-deaden the entire interior...
then run wires, cables etc. to the rear, and install the carpet kit...
then put the seats and package tray and dash and console
all back in it, the front suspension will come after that...

A few paint issues and I'll be 'done' with it for a while...

I'll be posting newer pics somewhat shortly...

Thanks for the info everybody..!! Snacks...

rear sway bar will help, but dunno about getting one to fit, could be some work involved. i'll tell you what DON'T help! canning the front shocks for hyd cylinders and a trunk full of batteries! wasn't bad till i tore out the rear shock mounts, don't know how i managed to drive it, but i still did!

being you got the tranny out, if you got the dough, now would be a good time to give it a little more converter, i think its PAE that has high stall switch pitch converters...

good luck!
