Wondering if anyone if cruising out to Austin from DFW area. Maybe we could arrange something to cruise out together? Is something like this already happening?

I'll probably hitch on at Waco...

Im picking up Evel(MadFabricators) from DFW and then maybe meeting up with my "THEM" crew for breakfast then heading out at about 9am we'll probably be meeting up with most of the DFW/OKC guys and hopefully Tuck and Bleed will be pulling thru Dallas at that time also then we'll head down to Carls Corner
OK, here's the way I figure this will work:
We will have a few small groups coming down both I-35E from Dallas and I-35W from Ft. Worth. We'll all meet up at Carls Corner for food and/or bullshitting around 12-1 PM while we get everyone in one place, then we convoy on out from there to Austin.
I think we should head out from Carls Corner at 1:00 PM sharp...if you're not there by then you'll have to try to catch up to the convoy. That would put us in Austin at around 3-3:30. We could push back departure from Carl's to 12:00 if everyone wants to get to Austin earlier.
Any feedback is appreciated...A few days before that Friday I figure we'll do some sort of a roll call on here.
I'm planning on running down with a fairly large group from the Ft. Worth side, so if you want to roll with us, let me know and we'll arrange a meeting place for that morning (kinda like what we did for the drags).
By the way...plan on leaving DFW somewhere around 10 AM, and you should get to Carl's Corner at about the right time.

Tyler,
I stole that picture off of this amazing invention called the internet....perhaps you've heard of it?

Coollows Woes....
Why is it that just before the Round-Up, every year, everyone's cars decide to take a shit?
We are dropping like flies...
Rusty threw a rod in the shoebox
Sam got an offer on his car and sold it to finace his model A
Tony was rear-ended in the Ranchero
Gia's Comet is having carb issues (and the Comet was hit by a tire that flew off a blazer that was involved in a accident A BLOCK AND A HALF AWAY!!!)
I am having fuel pump issues (I have a rebuild kit and plan to install it this week).
In spite of all the issues, we still managed to get together yesterday at the Garage del Coollow and light stuff on fire, drink some whiskey and work on the cars...
Here's some pics...
Stephen's '30 Plymouth is coming along. Will have a new Painless kit and striping before the Round-up...

Rusty decided to try and get this Plymouth wagon running for the Round-up and re-build his flathead in the shoebox later....
Believe it or not, we got it running yesterday.....

Winkle's car has been overheating, but it still looks good.....
If everyone keeps having car problems, we might bring the BOAT that you see in the background.... ahoy mate!

Sam's model A...
you should see this one at next year's Round-up....

Check this.....
I hear ya...
My shifter in the shoebox decided to go crazy this weekend. I had to limp it home for about 5 miles on Friday night in first gear (in the rain). Good thing them SBC's is tough!
I'll have that sorted out this week...it appears to just be a linkage problem.
And yesterday I tried to assemble my new pistons for the Triumph, and I found that 3 out of the 6 rings that came with the big bore kit were broken! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif New ones are on the way though, so I might still be able to get the Triumph to run before the Roundup. It's coming along nicely and I'll bring it running or not...it should be pretty much done cosmetically.
A tire from and accident a block and a half away? What up wit dat?

Bass-
You pulling a trailer behind the shoebox for you bike or are you gonna hang your left arm out the window and hold the handlebars the whole way down?
I still need the mini-bike striped, but I don't know if I am gonna mess with bringing it this year... I actually have an old piano that I want striped someday as well....
Can you believe that shit with the tire??? The car must have been going about 70mph... It happened at the tattoo shop Sat night on Garland Rd.....
HC
I hadn't thought about holding the handlebars out the side window...good idea! That would really freak people out when I pass em on the right doing 90...it would be even cooler if I could rig up a mannequin to ride it kinda like Weekend at Bernies. hahaha...
Nah, I'll either have a friend haul it down for me in my (late-model) truck, or I'll get my buddy Kevin to pull it on his trailer behind his car. That will kinda be a last minute decision. I've got a 3 bike trailer, but no hitch on the shoebox.

Hey Hank, how long have the flames been on that Ford...I don't remember seeing it before but I remember a car with a skull in the front at a Pistons and Paint show...I can not place seeing that car for the life of me...
Your buddies 30 Ply looks really cool dude...what color stripes is he going to put on it?
That tire story is weird...but hey, sounds like you are using up all your bad Karma and will have smooth sailing all the way to Austin (bad boat joke for your boat).
Man, Austin seems like a lifetime away right now.

That tire story brings back memories. One night around 2am on central we saw some smoke and something fly over the median ahead of us. It was a tire. It bounced in front of our car and cleared us and the guy behind us completey. Then it came down somewhere back there. I never saw if it hit anyone. I hope it didn't it would have been real bad.

Yeah, I know that's how they do it in Ohio. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I met these dudes from Cincinnati on the way out to Bonneville and they had a Honda 50cc dirtbike strapped to the back of their Model A Coupe. Looked kinda crazy going down the highway...cool dudes, though.

Naw, but they were friends with that dude....He did the pinstriping and artwork on the side of the Model A. The guy that was driving was named Carl Cruse (sp?), and I can't remember the other guy's name right now.
I think Carl said he worked for WKRP Cincinatti or something like that.

I am doing everything in my power to get the Coollows @ Carl's Corner by 12:00...
If everything goes smoothly, we'll be there and ready to leave by 12:30.
The key phrase is "if everything goes smoothly"..
If not, you guys go on ahead and we'll see you in Austin Friday night...

Dammit mother of all hell!
We lost two more!
Tony's Ranchero was rear-ended Saturday night. Not totaled, but not driveable!
AND NOW, George was driving on I-30 in the 41 Chebby when a couch cushion blew out of a truck forcing everyone around him to swerve. The car, from what I understand is now folded in half!
George ended up in the passenger seat with the steering collumn in his lap!
From what I was told, it is a complete loss....
The only thing salvageable is the Mexican blanket.
Luckily, George is ok.
RIP '41 "the ROACH" RIP

Crap dude, thank god your buddy walked away from it...I sure hope they got the number of the fool that lost the sofa cushion and he has insurance or something...glad he is okay man. You have got be be out of bad luck by now man!

The "cushion culprit" was long gone by the time the clusterfuck took place! Basically everyone involved agreed to file with thier own insurance companies....
George was the only one without self coverage!
HC
Shit. That sucks. It's not likely that they'll ever find the dude that lost the cushion either unless someone got a license plate number...also unlikely.
It breaks the ol' heart to hear about things like that.

Im sure it don't make him feel anybetter at the moment, but at least he is okay and in one giant hunk still. It was a car, the driver is more important...but I bet he aint real happy right now. Tell him we all feel for him man.

I guess the only good thing is that George has a back-up car.... but the front-end needs some welding before it can be driven... I guess that means that we'll all be at Garage del Coollow this Sunday getting it ready...
I have now taken off all next week to help everyone get thier shit together.
George's back-up ride....

Is Exit 374 after 35E and 35W merge?
No.
And that exit is if you're coming down I-35E.
If you are coming down I-35W like me, then you'll either have to take Exit #3 and go east on FM 2959 for about 4 miles over to Carls Corner, or you'll have to go down to the merge and cut back up I-35E for about 5 miles or so.
