Well since I didnt post my intro in the proper place,i'll do so now.
My name is James and I live in Mt.Vernon,Ohio.
I've loved cars, trucks, bikes since I could hold a Matchbox car.I loved musclecars in high school which didnt sit too well with my State Trooper father...lol.My first car was a 68 Chevelle SS 396 i bought in Cardington,Ohio for 750 bucks and drove it home.Dad HATED that car.
Then i fell in love with customs.Mild or Wild,as long as they were chopped, slammed, molded, and cool.
Now I seem to be hooked on the old Gasser style cars.
My last car was a 68 Cougar XR-7 that i worked on for 12 years and it was done except for a trip to the body shop. That car had 713 miles on it after I rebuilt or replaced just about everything on her.Unfortunately,a layoff at work forced me to sell it 8 months ago.Now i'm back to work...until they lay off again lol..and as soon as I get caught up on bills,im gonna get another project.
I seem to hate paying money for car stuff that I can make myself cheaper.I wanted Cal Trac traction bars for my Cougar, but didnt want to spend almost 200 bucks for them.So I found plans to make my own off the net.A little scrap bin raiding at work and I had the material to make my own..only out of 316 stainless instead of mild steel. They worked great and cost me 30 bucks...that for the four HD 3/4 inch rod ends.
I found this site and the folks here seem pretty damn cool, and always willing to share their knowledge.
As well as working at Rolls-Royce,im trying to start my own powder coating buisness.I have been doing my own stuff and friends stuff for about 7 years now, nothing as big as frames yet,but if i build my own oven maybe that will be next.If anyone needs any powder coating done im the cheapest around.I can even do headers and exhaust manifolds now.
Well enough of this shit...just wanted to introduce myself, and I love this site.
Might soon be looking for a 53-54 chev to build a gasser.Keep me in mind if ya find one.
