...and some B's, C's, and V-8's too.
I know this isn't about Walmart, Jesse James, American HotRod or Ebay, but I thought a few of you might enjoy the pics. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
My boss, Jack Dewar, hosted the F.A.S.T group at his museum this last Saturday. It was a beatiful day in sunny San Luis Obispo and we had a great turnout. Plenty of neat cars, friendly people, and good food. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, that is my dad's red T speedster in the middle of the line-up.

The car belongs to Max McClain, a SLO local. It is still under construction, but his craftsmanship is beautiful. It will be quite a car when done.

I think this was my favorite of the day.
Inspired by early 30's Indy cars, this car is a garage built wonder. Based on a 1925 Chevy frame, B engine, and V-8 rear. The chassis has many well thought out, home built parts. I looked at it for hours. The owner is Dave from San Jose (I can't remember his last name). He bulit the chassis and is having someone build the body. This car is the guy's first attempt at building a body. I think he did quite well...

He used Lincoln brakes front and rear and adapted Marmon hubs to Ford drums to mount the knock off 19" Marmon wheels.
Here is a rear shot...

The thing that intrigued me about this car, was the use of ordinary parts on such a high end appearing car.
The front end uses a Speedway tube axle, Ford spindles, Lincoln brakes, streetrod style bolt on steering arms, and it is all steered by an F-100 steering gear. Even I can afford that kind of stuff http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This car rated right up there as a favorite of the day.
4-banger powered and a daily driver, it had "the look"!

Nice. I like the stance and wheels on the speedster sitting on the far side of your Dad's car. Every car in this post is rad.

Heya NEal, that speedster is awesome!
But why did he keep it on the jack stands all day long?
Just curious.

Sam - He put the car up on stands so the old guys didn't have to lay on the ground to see under it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif With the side skirts below the frame, it was hard to see the chassis, so the stands helped a little.
I should have taken more pics, there was some neat old speed equipment.
This was a great event, and I hope it continues. There are alot of guys involved that are getting up there in years and it is a great opportunity to glean a little bit of their knowledge.
We were talking to one guy about V8-60's. He said he had a pair of 60 Offy heads still in the box sitting in his garage...that he had bought new in 1950.

Neal,
where in SLO is the museum, and what sort of museum is it?
I have a friend who lives there who owns a wicked 41 Ford Kustom, he belongs to The Cam Twisters who meet on a Tuesday (I think) in the IHOP in town!

The body was built by Rob Diepenbroek" of cannedheatcustoms. He's in the Odd Rods, and the body was pounded by hand at his shop in San Francisco. He also pounded out the helmet dome for Guido's Red baron car. Very talented, and very cool guy. Here's pic from his shop during a secret shoot for Garage Magazine:

Uh...as I read this, am I to understand that the FAST museum is in SLO???
Is this happenstance, or did some clever, devious, and patient soul spend his whole life setting this one up??
