just a quick note to introduce myself and to say I am honored to be a part of this group.
I live in New Orleans and my shop got flooded last august with 7 feet of toxic slop. All my stuff went under. I lost some cars and lots of equipment but not my desire to keep connected to the roots of hot rodding.
My first word was wheel and Ive set about customizing almost everything ive ever had from clothes to shoes to cars. I have always loved hand made cars and stuff that really defies classification and lives far outside the mainstream. This is especially true when I see individuals who are able to tranform raw materials into fully functional artistic creations that can freak out the squares on a regular basis. And I cant stand Billet gold chain crap.
About 5 years ago I started to make automotive art. I pretty much had a moment of insanity in which the drwheelie concept was born. It all started with cross pollination between the things I started looking at from an early age, pornogaphy and car mags. See my site www.drwheelie.com for a look at the result, nitroporn.
I got a shop of my own a few years ago and started to make bigger pieces out of car parts. Havent updated the site with this stuff yet but I will be soon. Anyway, the hurricane pretty much ended my work in the shop until I get it rebuilt.
Why did I join the HAMB? Because I finally decided to get a rat rod. At first I had issues with buying one that someone else made but after I lost my shop I figured it would be easier to get one that I could drive to jumpstart the whole process.
Hell these kind of cars are always works in progress so I figure I can do lots to the car to begin making it an extention of me.
So, I have a 27 model t coupe on a handmade frame. I dont have it yet as I just got it and havent gotten shipping set up yet.
Looking forward to getting some good advice from those in the know and hopefully sharing somethings I may learn along the way.
