Those ads are not from the HAMB.... That's for certain...

You might have some 'spyware' on your computer that puts up ads all the time. Downloading a program called "AdAware" fixes it:

tuck,

yep, spyprogs are probably the cause, they make sure you get ads ALL THE TIME. my favorite removal program is this little thing:

http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd12.exe

click, install, read brief instructions, and run

result: less crap, and noticeably faster net.

Yep, it is "spyware". When you run ad-aware, be sure to use their backup feature, in case it messes up something.

I got one the other day too. I clicked a link from one forum to another and got an ad instead of the page I was trying to access. Happened a couple of times. I could see the correct link info in the nav bar on the bottom of my browser, but I didn't get to that page, just an ad (I was too pissed off to make note of what company or product).

I'm on a Mac, no spyware piggybacking on my machine (Mac OS doesn't use .exe files). I think the problem might be in the HAMB server or ISP, unfortunately.

I used the studserver link and it solved my problem. I thought I had a friggin' virus. I couldn't locate the source of my pop ups. Weird thing... I have a seperate settings page for myself from my wifes with the windows xp right... well she wasn't getting all the pop ups... figure that one out? This worked though it seams... thanks for the link.... because I was getting really aggravated when I would log on and find 37 pop up windows... one headache gone... many to go...

I used the one Raff suggested and it did stop my popups. I'm no computer guy but my system started locking up alot when surfing the web. Mostly on sites such as Ebay, Amazon, and was also having difficultys on the HAMB. I thought I had connection problems but was'nt the case. This program allows you to choose what to take off your computer and I think I may have removed some items that should have stayed causing my problems. it does allow you to reverse it and I'm surfing smoothly again. Popups are back but I will try removing again later but try to be more selective with what I take off. Hope this helps if anyone else is noticing problems after installing the program.

Here is another good source. This will check your system and then tell you how to go about removing each one.

While "PopUp Killer" doesn't clean the spybots out of your system, it will effectively kill any pop-up's you have so that they won't pop-up any more. It is not compatible with "Gator". But big deal, Gator is a HUGE source of pop-ups. We also use "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot-Search" to try to keep our system free of robots and miners. It's getting ridiculous anymore.

I've been getting some pop ups lately...They are different than I've ever gotten before. They don't pop up in a new Explorer window, they come up in like a system alert window or something (solid gray). They all say "before you close this, copy this web address! You'll never have popups again!" Every time I get online...what is it???

Download adaware 6.0 and it should take care of your problems. I wouls suggest the free ZoneAlarm firewall program incase you don't have one
