Well, I'm sitting here dreaming again and I got to wondering what the floors of most modifieds look like, are they often channeled? Never channeled? How do you get them both low and still have the driveshaft tucked up out of the way?
The "dream" is about a narrowed modified, a one seater, and I'm wondering how I'd mount a seat if I had to have a driveshaft tunnel in order to get it low.
Anyone have any pics of the floor of any modifieds? Or any pics of them at all.
Thanks.
I think most of them are not channelled leaving more room inside. Here's an interior shot

Here's an overall shot of the same car.
I suppose there are quite a few modifieds built and owned by members of the HAMB.
But, there are two names that come to mind when The historical or traditional car(modified or hot rod)comes to mind.
Mike Bishop and Dave Mann both seem well versed in what constitutes hotrods, be they modifieds or otherwise.
Wanted to add that C9 and the infamous DrJ will know the answers to these questions, too.
That said, I did see a two seat modified just recently.

I've got a lot of pics, as I'm sure many others have too.If you need additional, let me know. But a good start is to go to Daniel Strohl's site on modifieds. You'll see both narrowed and channeled projects.Check out this one first, then go thru the list. http://www.danielstrohl.com/huber.html

What floor?. mine is channeled 4 1/2" . i made a plywood floor for the section for under your feet only.it sits on top of the frame with brackets.with the narrow frame on mine, there is a gap between the frame and the outside of the body, so you can see the pavement, grass or salt going by. kinda depends on what your driving on. just do what kinda works and you'll be ok.

Lowlife- What made you think of me?
I'm a long time and knowledge off from doing ANYTHING right away. I'm just dreaming for now.

I just checked out that Daniel Strohl's site and it is amazing. Right up there with Mart's site. Too much stuff to see at once. I'm about 1/8 of the way through the site and it's more information than I could have dreamed of.
Thanks for that link, lik2writ

I thought about a month ago you asked for pics of narrowed Ts,modifieds, track cars, etc. that could be used on the street? Here's one of Mitch's '32 truck mod that he used the roof as a bellypan.

Yeah, that was me, but I didn't think anyone would have remembered the name of a poster from a month ago. Thanks for the pics.

If I was doing a single seat 4 cylinder Modified,I'd consider offsetting the motor to the right.
That way I could get the seat down where it belongs without interfering with the driveshaft.
