Forward this message by "blind copy" (Bcc: ) to all in your address book, so as not to advertise everyone's email addresses.

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever!

This virus was discovered Wednesday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed.

This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.

This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your address list with the title,

"A Virtual Card for You".

As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk.

Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to a news broadcast by CNN.

This alert was sent by Microsoft....

DON'T open any mails with the subject:
"A Virtual Card for You."
As soon as you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender!!!

Pass this message to all of your friends. Forward this to everyone in your address book. (Remember by Bcc: )

I'm sure most people, like myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at all.

Well, I thought I would be "better safe, than sorry."

It DID get coverage on the national news last night. Plus I have been receiving a hell of a lot of mail with the above mentioned subject line.

If it IS A HOAX; then I'm sorry for upsetting anyone.

HIGH alert - Bagle worm (versions H, J and K)

Update March 6th - The risk assessment of this threat has been raised to high due to increased prevalence.

Caution: This worm can arrive disguised as a legitimate warning notification. In some cases, customers may receive a virus disguised as an e- mail from TELUS or other internet providers.

It is NOT a TELUS * e-mail message. This virus has an attachment, which if opened can harm your computer.

* Although this alert comes from TELUS; a large Canadian service provider, customers of other service providers are also receiving similar messages.

Do not open the e-mail, or its attachment.

Bagle (versions H, J and K) are e-mail worms, which send themselves via their own SMTP engine to addresses stolen from your hard disk. The worm searches for files with a variety of extensions.When run, these worms open and copy themselves to the Windows system folder and create files in the same folder. This means the worm will run every time you log on to your computer.

Mail Propagation: The body of the message is constructed with several parts to effectively customize the e-mail to make it appear to be a legitimate warning notification.

The details are as follows;
The From: field uses a "spoofed" address and may appear to be from someone you know.

The subject line can be:
"E-mail account security warning," or "Email account Suspended," or "Email Utilization Warning" (or a variation of these).

TELUS Anti-Virus users:TELUS Anti-Virus automatically checks for new virus updates every three hours.

MAC users want to be careful as well.
