View Full Version : can someone explain this front end setup?

i found these pics a 27 ford roadster and i like the way it sits and looks in the front. i want to do this setup on mine. can someone explain how they did it? does the front spring perch come through the grille? any help is appreciated thanks

that spring doesn't look to be doing shit, cept for maybe decorating the front of the car........ I don't get it.... LUKE

1/4 elliptics off the bottom of axle. Spring's a decoration.

Yeah, pretty much. You'll see another one in red primer that's more revealing a few pages later.You'll see the radiator set back as well.If ya can't find em, I'll e-mail them to you.

Looks like the spring is mounted on top of the perch, which comes through the grill.

Looks to me like the spring is functional, the radiator cap is sitting off to the side and behind the grill shell, leaving room for a bracket hidden behind the grill mesh and that clamp would have scratched the grill mesh paint.

The mounts on the bottom of the axle could be for lever shocks?

Here one pic. 4t is on the money. Btw...lot of old speedsters ran it this way...if they had the room, they'd run one mount for the engine and another for the perch about 6 inches apart. They would drop the radiator in between on its own side mounts.
