What does the pitman arm attachment point look like on this thing? Is it a splined connection with a big nut on the shaft or is it a clamp-on pitman with a nut and bolt making a pinch clamp at the top??

How about you tell us who you are, what you are working on, where you are and why we should even consider answering any questions you have, or buying something from you.
An introduction perhaps?...

OK, it's not an F-100. It might well be F-1, 1948-52 pickup.

Sounds like a car box mounted up side down.
Go look at this site and figure out what you have. (http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_drawings_steeringear.htm)
Oh, and thanks for not yelling any more!

Rusty isn't exactly the new kid on the block folks if you look over at his info under his screen name and Avator.
Detailed photos Rusty detailed photos and someone on here will recognize it.
The unfortunate thing about these cars is that somewhere in time just about every steering box around got stuck on one at some time or another an sometimes it wasn't pretty.
Of course most anything that had been done can also be undone with a bit of effort.

might be an F1 box ...i have one on a raised C channel on my A bone...it works great too...i will try to put on some scans so you can compare yours to it and it might give you some hints - mine was first done in 1960 and redone in 1986 and still going strong in 2009!...they are much more rugged than a model A box....i also used a 1962 comet steering box in a model A coupe a couple of years ago - i turned it on it's side, made a plate to mount it on the side and under the boxed model A frame - set my steering shaft angle and man was it a super steering box...got it for free too...let me know if this is YOUR box...johnnyB

That steering box ended up being a early Gemmer, The worm gear bad pitted pretty bad and was replaced with a Vega at the time, A f1 would have been a easy swap at the time but being young and having a Vega laying around we opted for it.
MAn I love this place
