Yep.
I just got back from visiting my folks in FL. In the park where they stay there's a guy with a '56 Ford golf cart. He built it on a golf cart chassis using parts from a local junk yard that was going to crush 'em.
I liked his story. He said "For $50,000. I sent my son to college to get an engineering degree. When he got out I handed him a sketch of this (the golf cart) and said, ok, now build this!".
He said it took them about a year to build and three to finish all the details. That was several years ago and he said it's about time to redo it.
All the sheetmetal has been shortened and/or sectioned. The hood and truck lid were cut into 4 quarters and 25% removed from each quarter. He said the car is 24" narrower than stock. That's how much was taken out of the dash.
Oh, he also owns a full size version hardtop. I saw it but didn't get a photo of it. It appeared to be original paint and interior. Very nice.
