Wolfman Nick ain't Wolfman Jack, but he'll do...
It's even got that car AM with a thunderstorm nearby cutting down the reception cruising on Saturday night quality to it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sounds like he uses real records too. You can hear the needle pops and scratches. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You East Coasters remember Murray the K?
Or the mighty WTMA tigers down south?
Oklahoma had KOMA and we listened to it all the way up in Montana till it went Country.
You could get the Wolfman all the way up here in Idaho too.
Here in Idaho we had KID radio and Jack Sunday. He used to rhyme everything till one night he said this!
"Here's another golden assed blast from the past!....
{Pause}...Uh, This was Jack Sunday, I'll be gone on Monday!" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
And, he was...
"It's 10 P.M. Children,,,Do you know where your parents are?"

In Denver we had the Boogie Man. That was around 1979 or so.
He was on KWBZ the MIGHTY 1090 broadcasting outa Englewood, Co on South Broadway.
We would listen to him just be plain nutz on the air, while building model cars in Mark and Kenny Hargrave's basement. The Boogie Man would play everything that was cool:
The Johhny Burnett Trio, Little Richard, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Elvis and the Jordanaires and Gene and Eddie of course.
He'd always play something that would make ya just wannna bop around the floor. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Man, I miss that.
We'd be building out plastic fantasies and waiting for the day we'd roll around looking cool and making fum of the other guys in their scrubmaros and rustangs. Kenny wanted a Shoebox convertible. Burgudy with a full on flattie. Mark wanted a '29 Roadster with a blown Hemi.
Me, well I wanted an Edsel and a '49 Mercury. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I got one of 'em.
Some day I will get the other.
Anyways, here in Portland we now have Super AM 62.
And it is pretty damned good!
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Now if the DJ's only had a little bit more spark.
In the '50's in Cincinnati, we listened to WLAC out of Nashville after 10pm. Best Rhythm and Blues ever. Introduced me to Big Joe Turner, Lil Junior Parker, Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf, Bo Diddly, etc. Tune the AM to 1510 and hope that there was no interference. Ernie's Record Parade hosted by John R. played the latest tunes. Randy's Record Shop in Gallatin Tenn. was a major sponsor.

Spooky, do your remember Ray Derkey (sp?) on KHOW?
Sunday at the memories?
He had a great show in the late 70's early 80's.
First place I heard "Sag Drag and Fall" by Sid King and
The Original "Hound Dog" by Big Mamma Willa Mae Thorton.
Boogie was always a favorite when I was growing up in Longmont. I used to call him and he'd deicate Gene Vincent songs to my girl friend for me.
Then there was all the KIMN crazies, Hal Baby More, Pogo Poge, and Jay Mack.
In the 60's my dad would tape KIMN on his reel to reel so I got to hear some great old Denver radio shows.
"fabulous KIMN Denver 95... Tiger radio."
Denver had some good radio in the day.

Am I missing something here? All I get is ocean sounds. I'm not seeing where to listen to doo wop or rockabilly.
I like New Age music.
Does anybody have any links to that?
I like Yanni and Zamfir a lot. Enya's this shizznizzle!

Sir Nads...was that REALLY you in Ye Olde tights and carrying a person of small stature on yer back?
I still have fevered dreams and many pensive moments wondering as to HOW that scene came to be?

Damn Krupanut, I forgot all about Ray Derkey and Sunday at the memories. I used to listen to it all the time when I was a little kid. And Spooky, KWBZ was the best station ever. It used to fade out on me as soon as the sun would set, man I loved that station.

What DooWop? All I get is new garbage. Are there special hours?
Ive about 10 Gig from the old Napster days.
Hey Kid,
Remind us again next TUESDAY and put the words "Listen to MY SHOW at 6:00PM, WEDNESDAY" in it because the urgency of tuning in at a particular hour just didn't register in the old brain till it was too late.
