Hey, I wanna relocate my coil on my caddy off of the stock location on the intake manifold over to the fender. I'm working on a theory that it might be getting to hot...

But I'll need to get a longer coil wire, you know, the high voltage one...

Silicone core wire provides increased resistance when you increase the length... would going from a 6 inch length to a 18 or so inch length attenuate most of my spark energy, effectively screwing myself?

Or, should I get ahold of some solid core wire? Or would that cause me to burn up my cap and rotor?

Whattya think? I'm using a pertronix, btw...

Thanks,

Do you have the positive image of that dancing girl?

And put points back in the distributor.

Nah, that is an easy mod. Just use some of the same stuff only a longer piece.

it's 20,000 volts going to the distributor so a couple of inchs won't be noticed.

Don't forget to advance your timing .00000000000000000000002 of a degree to compensate for the extra time the electricity will need to cover the extra distance.

The coil made it over to the fenderwell with the old coil wire still having plenny to go.

Thanks!

Bruce, ya left out a "0!" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously, the extra length of the same wire will not affect a thing.
