Just kidding about the magnate bit. But, honestly, I am the guy who's responsible for telling the world that my family's business is still kickin' in the drive-in theatre game. Back in the 50s and 60s my wife's dad and his partners built about 40 single screen drive-ins, mostly in the south western states. Over the years the number of locations has come down to 7, but each theatre now has a minimum of 3 screens, with a total of 29 screens remaining. We love out theatres, and thank God they're making box office again. Couple of years ago, we decided to fix up the old "ozoners" and now it's starting to pay off. Attendance is up, and folks appreciate the improvements we've made -- like the brightest and sharpest projection available, FM stereo broadcast sound, "A' rated snack bars, and clean restrooms. We play mostly double feature programs -- all the current movies -- at a bargain price, $6 for adults with kids 9 and under admitted free.
