I got the LTD running good now and Im gonna paint it B-Blue. Its been setting in a garage since 78 has 148 k on it and is really in nice shape. Interior is like new and the body is perfect. Its a 66 Ford LTD 4 Dr hardtop factory 390 4 spd.I did a trade for it. Had no engine or trans I put a 390 auto in it.This will be Momas ride and get rid of the Caddy.I lowered it and got brand new new tires and deep dish chromes on it (FEDSLED donated)for all the PBJs Mom made Him. So alL in all Its a good lookin car.So heres my question.
First gonna sand down to bare metal.-Existing paint is baked off and wrinkled bad. Also lots of surface rust not deep at all.
prime with etching prime
prime with sealer prime
shoot with color.
A friend said use epoxy primers and acrylic urethane for color.I dont plan on clearing it.I would think with todays paint it should hold up fine. Does this sound like it will be ok? and if so Martin Senior or PPG.I dont want to spend a fortune and Baby Blue should be easier than a metalic right? ---FEDER
