Does any thing other than air pressure affect the spring rate of air bags. A friend of mine has 2 new Firestone bags that he got from a parts house going out of business. We have no idea what they were intended for, but they would fit on the front end of my 53 Chev. Bad idea?
Thanks

You have to take into account the size of the bag as well as the thickness of the rubber. If you can get numbers off of the bags, one of the airbag distributors (Air Ride Technologies, Air Lift) or even Firestone might be able to give you some specs.

I think they are all about hte same thickness, good ones anyway. You need to know how much they go up and down and what they are rated for.....diameter too , I think the last dude covered that.

I sent you a copy of the Firestone Airbag Design Guide...should have everything you need to answer your airbag questions...

What brand are the bags? The firestone 255c is rated at 2500# per bag, the 224c is rated at 2600#, and the 26c is rated at about 2800#. the 255 is about 7" in diameter, the 224 is 8-9", and the 26 is 10".
