So my wife wants to completely change the interior color of her car. The carpet, seats, door panels, headliner and metal trim peices are the easy part. I havent had any experience in changing interior colors other than spray bombing a 72 ranchero interior long ago.
Is there a product available that I can use to paint the steering wheel? The car is a 62 olds, and she wants to go from silver/greenish color to black or white. Also, the car has a padded dash, can I just paint it, and if so, what is the best paint to use?

Im a fine one to advise you as I never have any interior in my cars!
PPG Makes an excellent vinyl dye.also they mix any color you ned for dashes and trim in a low sheen paint.see your local PPG jobber-they have all ya need to do it where it will stay- if your interior is nice Id paint it too, rather than replace it. they even have cleaners too remove any contaminants on the old color before spraying the new color.....

So I take it I can paint the dash, but I was worried that if I painted the steering wheel, it may wear off.

What I have done that has stayed real good is this- on a steering wheel I repaired[it was cracked and rough] I smoothed it all up and sprayed it with flexible bumper primer then acrylic enamel with hardener and flex agent added. it was perfect and did not peel or crack!

painting the dash, door panels and other trim will work fine as long as you clean them real well before hand. don't try seats or arm rests or anything that will get wear. it'll wear away quickly.
