Went to Arizona for some warm weather and a good time. Stopped and met ELpolacko,55safari and Les at ELpolacko's shop. Saw some cool rides there and they told us where some old tin was stashed. We found the stash of cars and parts but couldn't get this guy to sell anything.

Then we left Phoenix and went to Tucson and met HOTRODRON and metalshapes. We drank a little to much but I took pictures to prove we were there.

After Tucson we went back to Phoenix and searched DVAP and Hidden Valley Auto. It was nice to not have to cut vines and crawl through weeds to check things out. We hit a friday night cruise and met a group of guys from the Hamb and I can tell you jerry is still cruising with the coon tail.

It was great meeting the Arizona Hambers and appreciate the help.

Sorry I didn't make it up to meet you at the cruise night. I had a bunch of shit pop up and the next thing I knew it was too late to head up there.
Looks like you had a blast.

Ron...the drinking we can do but that food is hot going in and coming out. Next time I'm on an ice cream diet.

Deyomatic...had a great time wish you could have come out to play. On the way to the airport stopped at Hooters in Tempe, nice town.

Flying Clutchman...get a hold of ELpolacko or 55safari I don't know the name of the place just know it's in Solome. I'm not sure if I spelled that right. The guy had alot of nice stuff but kept telling me, Oh thats not for sale.

Left good ol Missouri on Tuesday, with 1953 Merc in tow, for Mesa,Az.
Arrived Mesa Wed evening,, unloaded said Merc, picked up pocket full of cash, then headed north Phoenix for motel.
Left Thurs morn for ride home.
Arrived home Friday evening after stop at Roothawg's domicile.Yes, he does drive the wagon occasionaly.
Did see some old tin along the road for sale. Why any one in their right mind would live in AridZoniey, is beyond me.
Aint nuthin there 'cept cactus and ol indian dwellings.
Oh Yeah, some old, battered cars strewn all about gulleys, and gulches.
I gotta admit, around Flagstaff is some pretty scenery, including mountains and pine trees.

========= Absolutely !

Oh wait , there has been record growth here for decades.

I emailed photos of my front yard to some cousins in Indiana. They did not believe I have trees in my front yard.

As a 50 year old native of AZ, i'd love to see about 1 million people move out of Maricopa county. Take their mid-west bitchin about the heat with them

Fatabone, glad you guys had a good time.
Stan, the first Pic is not a junkyard...
Are you telling me I should clean up my work area? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, I know, this place sucks, it never snows, you never get rained out of any plans you make, you can drive your old cars year round, and you have your pick of weekly car shows. Not to mention, the dragstrip is open year round. And I really wish it was flat and yellow like MO! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
After about the first 6 months, you realize that the cactii and brown rock really is great scenery, in the tradition of the Old West.

It was my first trip to Arizona in 1996 that I visited Desert Valley Auto.
Wish I could have spent more time there.
I guess Desert Valley is still open?
As I recall, there was very little rust in the cars and there were racks of them.

Yeah, Desert Valley is still open, but the only time I was there, we'll just say the guy I talked to was VERY proud of what he had. But there is alot of stuff.
