I'm looking to get a 55-57 Chevy truck.
Checked one out today that was, mechanically perfect.
5-spd, re-geared rear-end, small-block 350

VISUALLY it was something of an eyesore, however.

The WHOLE thing was painted a "packman yellow",
Bumpers, grill, everything.
And the interior NEEDS paint,
But the parts inside that were painted were DARK FOREST GREEN
(not very complimenting to the yellow)

The biggest problem I saw on it
was it had those chrome reversed(?) moon/smoothie wheels,
And it looked as though you couldn't lower it that much
Cause the wheels WOULD rub...

"Dude" listed it for $6500, says he NEEDS $6000,
Noticed a LITTLE rust right behind the doors...
Should I keep looking?
Or is that a pretty good price?

Also, does anybody know of any skinny 6-lug wheels?
I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is,
but I know it's the 6-lug pattern chevy used forever...?
Thanks!

it's all about what it's worth to you...one thing i look for is it either has to be mechanically sound or the body has to be good unless it's a resto. project. for big money i don't want to do both body and motor. so, what's it worth to you? look in the antique auto trader and see what similar trucks are goin' for. that could be a good point for negotiation. good luck.

Hmm... I dunno. What kind of engine/transmission is it? (I know it's a 350, but is it stock or full of speed equipment or what?)

The rest doesn't sound very worthwhile. You'd have to repaint it and do bodywork, and 55-57 Chevy trucks aren't exactly rare, especially in California I'd imagine.

Machinos-
It's got electronic ignition, a hefty carb, headers, and that sort of thing.
Not STOCK, but not "hot rodded" either
And you bring up a very good point
about it not being a rare gem.

And I really want something I can just lower and drive,
not put a whole bunch of work in-

Something eles I should let you guys in on is
I already have a 57 parts truck too,

But what I would REALLY like is a GMC...
Anybody have any good suggestions on where to look?
Thanks!

Man, I can't be much help but radical56chevy (ratster's brother) had one of those trucks for sale in CO.... and I know nothing more about it.

You might shoot each of them a PM to see if it might be an option.

Harrison-
Thanks for the heads-up...
Any idea if it would make the drive to CA???
