Thread preview curser timeout

Is there a way to increase the amount of time you have to preview a thread when your curser is on it. I only have dial up and sometimes only connect at 28.8 bps (I know...pathetic). Opening up every thread that I THINK that I might like to read is not always practical. Moving the curser on and off of a thread title gets anoying as wellas trying to find where you left off reading before it disapears again.
