This makes it the official announcement!

Hunnert Car Pileup 2004 will be Saturday, October 9th at the historic Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL (just a lil' southwest of Chicago). We are still working on the details, but there will likely be bands in town the night before and following the Show, plus a mess of hot rod, rockabilly, surf, garage, etc bands at the show.

We'd like to thank Abomber (Drew) and his shop, Marty & Sons Body Shop in Sycamore for hosting the show the last 2 years, but attendance tripled, if not quadrupled from 2002 to 2003 and last year's show was covered in Ol Skool Rodz and Rolls an Pleats, plus it's in the upcoming issue of MAD FABRICATORS SOCIETY. So, while we LOVED having it at the shop, for safety's sake and the avoidance of potential legal problems, we had to move to a larger location.

For pix from the last 2 years, check out the HUNNERT CAR PILEUP website (http://www.hunnertcarpileup.com) and/or sign up for the mailing list for details. Also, we still have shirts left over from 2003. PM me if you want one.

Hellfish and Django....you boys would be happy to know Denise (Hotrodladycrusr) was proudly wearing your show shirt last night at the Detroit Autorama and was being a great ambassador, by talking up the show to me and another HAMBer. After listening to her about your gig, we just might have to fire up the old hot rods and make a crop tour down to the "Land of Lincoln" to get a first hand helping of this GOOD TIME!

Bravo! Congraulations on 2004's Pile Up! It's the best outdoor carshow I've ever attended bar none and I've been to a few.

Grundy will be a fabulous place to hold this years event. Not only is it a fine asphalt Stockcar track, but it's run family style by great people and has good food. Should be perfect for the Hoodlum Hot Rod crowd. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My hats off to Hellfish and company. Looking good.

Don't grow too much.... I mean I'm glad its doing well and all, but the coolest part about it is the fact that it is exclusive. All of the sudden there will be street rodders disquised as greasers and you guys will will be an organization.

The shows have been great, but I like the fact that it feels more like a party than an event. Be careful or you'll end up with a bunch of fags showing up days early to get the best spot to park their rat rod, and then someone will orginize the "Anti-Pile Up" to try and keep it real....

I'll miss the show being at Drew's for sure.

I am happy for you guys though.
Is there a Go Cart track near by the new spot?

CheaterChris
02-28-2004, 12:27 AM
the go-kart track was rulled by the Cheaters... I will miss it being at Drew's. Now you'll get people comming out of the woodwork telling you that they will be an assisit to your show. Ask Bob. I say if they werent there from the begining FUCK EM'

Evil your still a homo, lets see that DVD already!!!!

Hellfish

Thanks guys!
Yes, we'll definitely miss being at Drew's shop, but there were too many people for that location, and with drunks running across a highway all day things got a little dangerous. Drew's son almost got hit by a Nova trying to show off, for example.

Anyway, Bob, one of my main concerns about leaving the shop was losing the FEEL of the show. I think we'll be able to keep it at the new location. Show parking at Grundy is about the size of Marty's if you remove all the buildings and fences, plus there's a pavilion/shelter for bands to play in AND be heard by the crowd. The fairgrounds are pretty small. We don't want a huge show, and we're still not trying to make money off the show. We just want to have a good time with our friends and see some killer rods. It will be the same great show, just a different place.

We'll look into the go cart tracks... and see if there are any gay midget support groups around for the Cheaters to molest.

Here's a teaser (thanks to Django). Look for postcards at the Lonestar Roundup.

To go along with what Eyeball said, THE best show I've ever been to. Great people, great cars, great sounds. Is there any talk about it being more than a one day show?

Hellfish
02-29-2004, 02:22 AM
I think making it a 2 day show would make it too big and too much work. We organizers wanna have fun, too! We're trying to work it out this year so we can have a pre-show cruise/party at our friend's bar in town with some bands and DJs, plus more bands there after the show... so that will be more than what we could arrange last year.

We'll work on getting HAMB hotel discounts again... but we may have to ask HRLC since she's so good at it!

Yeah it wont get that big... The entry rules and regs will be exactly the same as before, thats what makes the show... lets not forget that the pileup is about the cars.

The fun and party is nice, but we all go to see/bring the cars.. to see what everyone else has been up to through the year. To talk about ideas or get ideas for future projects... see who built what, or how they did it.

Its still about the cars, venue change makes it safe.

A couple of us are volunteering our time and effort to put it together and make it a good show. It aint ever ever ever ever going to turn into a "corporate" show. None of the organizers will ever benefit a dime from the show.

Hotels are close... food is good and close.. its near major highways so getting there is easy. Should work out nicely.

As usual, i will be excited to see the latest projects.. and the cheater boys will be excited to see the latest boys.

heheh

The guy from the grounds told me and hellfish when we were walking around.. "Lots of big name rockstars played on that stage"..we replied.."Yeah? who?".. he says "Oak Ridge boys.. Journey...etc etc"

hehehehe

Looking forward to telling some lies and kicking some tires.

Damn, my neck of the woods. Joliet has about all the major hotel chains, about 15 minutes away, right off I-80. The big truck stop right next to the speedway has a lot of cool old gas station and old toy car shit. Pretty decent food too. My ex works at a tavern about 2 minutes away so you can go bother her too.
